You've Got Burnout

You've Got Burnout
It feels good to be back, and there's a reason why episodes seemed to suddenly halt: In short, I'm experiencing some kind of burnout. In this episode, I share what I’m learning about the why and how of burnout. To be clear, I am not recording this from a place of overcoming burnout. Instead, I want to show the importance of hearing from someone when they're in the throes of an experience. It's easy to forget how difficult something was once we're on the other side of it, and those of us going through it cannot go through it alone. In the coming months, I'm going to be sharing a series of episodes that explore burnout and anxiety, particularly as they relate to those of us who have small businesses and are entrepreneurs. I hope to be in conversation with others going through this, as well as connect with practitioners who offer support to their clients and patients. In this episode, I discuss how I’m experiencing burnout, the three types of burnout I’m learning about, what the contributing factors were for me, and delve into my personal experience. Listen to the episode on Spotify, Amazon Music, or on your favorite podcast platform.Topics Covered:Therapy as a tool for working through burnoutHow each of the three kinds of burnout manifestsThe importance of maintaining a spiritual practice Key differences between anxiety and burnoutCreating appropriate boundaries to avoid leaking energyThe toll burnout takes on things that are usually a priority for youFollow Me:WebsiteInstagramEmail: hello@thisisjenniealexis.com

Stepping Into Your True Identity with Jill Prescott
Today, I am joined by Jill Prescott, who is what I like to call an ‘edge-walker,’ or someone who doesn’t follow the status quo. Her career began as a financial services manager in an automobile showroom and then drastically shifted to entrepreneurship in a wave of spirituality, a life-altering event, and stepping into her true identity.Like so many of us, Jill grew up inside the box of societal norms. She put on a performance in her relationships and career, but when she finally said goodbye to the things she thought made her life, she stepped into her calling and found a passion she could not live without. In our conversation, Jill illustrates the value of finding your identity and explains how taking time away from your business to pursue other interests actually helps you generate more income. Listen in as we discuss ways to navigate entrepreneurship and spiritual growth. Listen to the episode on Spotify, Amazon Music, or on your favorite podcast platform.Topics Covered:Finding the difference between the identity society gives you and the identity of your true selfHow to follow your intuition and questions to ask yourself to find who you areWhat it means to be constantly evolvingHow your mental health journey can transform your life and careerTips for building your business from the ground upHow to balance business and relationshipsResources Mentioned:Jill's TEDx Talk: Being vulnerable gave me freedom from sexual abuse and bullying. What Happens If We Shift Our Relationship To The New Year

What Happens If We Shift Our Relationship To The New Year
Presence is more important than time. As we go into the new year, it is very easy to get lost in the shuffle of, “new year, new me.” Instead, what if we were to shift from having a new goal and a “clean slate,” to reflecting on the previous year and honing in on a standard practice or process? I like to think of goal setting as deciding to do something and then taking the steps to achieve it. And then ask myself, what works for me? What does consistency look like in achieving this goal?Listen in on today’s episode as I discuss why the process of working towards your goals, dreams, or plans is more important than the progress we make in reaching or completing them. I encourage you to explore your relationship with goal setting and to be curious about doing things differently.Listen to the episode on Spotify, Amazon Music, or on your favorite podcast platform.Topics Covered:Goal setting and the pressure that comes with beginning a new yearPresence is more important than timeConsistency is more important than perfection, what does consistency mean for me?Process is more important than progress; process gets better over timeHoned skills and becoming the best at one thingAre we ending things well?
