The childhood fears and scares of a 7-year-old narrator and his 11-year-old sister are allayed when they decide that they can introduce themselves as Pemi de Nianey (Pemi's Children) to any potential danger. Sekhon's signature story of innocence and faith is widely anthologized and enjoyed by the readers of Punjabi literature.
Sant Singh Sekhon (1908-1997) wrote five short story collections, four one-act play collections, ten full-length plays, two novels in addition to five books of literary criticism/theory, and two volumes of historical evaluation of the Punjabi literature. His historical plays remain popular in Punjabi Theatre world even till date. He began his literary journey with publishing poems in English, but later shifted to writing in Punjabi.
